Solvei studied painting and design in the mid 70s, and also began studying black & white photography at that time. In the early 1980s she came up with her own style of art photography. She and her husband worked in eastern Europe for 20+ years, returning to the Twin Cities in 2013.
While living in Lithuania she was inspired by her surroundings and did a lot of street photography, which she came to love. She is drawn to the lighting and design of a scene, and is truly satisfied when her finished print looks more like a painting. She enjoys discovering “paintings” ready to be captured.
In 2019 Solvei started working with Linocut printmaking.
