I am a full time Ceramic Artist working out of my studio in Hugo, Minnesota. My process begins by throwing porcelain clay on a wheel and altering the shape by carving, paddling, and rasping. The basis for my surface decorations starts with sketching or photographing imagery from nature, my floral gardens, and floral theme textiles. These techniques include slip application, carving, incising, applying underglaze, and Mishima methods to the form. Those integrated designs articulate the porcelain form creating areas for glazes to pool, adding depth to the imaginary. My floral gardens and nature influence my color palette.
