I create paintings in four basic series. My “Place Art” that through the years has mainly included Twin City Iconic areas and sites. Then the “Signage” that three years ago got a Grant to paint regional vintage signs. “Urban Extracts”, extracted areas of architecture with my special take on color. 2 years ago I started my own series of abstracts. This new series grew out of the Urban environment as all my work has come from. I also gained influence from Instagram artist such as pschmidt61 and _tragicoo_.  

The work has matured and grown after several trials of allowing myself to make lines and shapes without pre-planning or looking at an image. I had been photographing graffiti thinking I would use the images to develop my own style when all the unrest of this 2020 period broke out. The artists that showed up to construct there voice in graffiti inspired style provoked me into action. I needed to explore work that is of the moment and intuitive. The immediate drawing technique is fun to see develop and pop out as I add color. Color is put down at random first then a series of questions come to mind as in what colors look good together how different is each color from one another in the piece.
