Although I have been painting for many years, (1985) most of those years I painted with acrylics. I started as a "Tole" painter on wood. Then in the early 2000's I begin a wall painting business. I learned all the faux finishes. I painted murals, vines and flowers, cabinets--whatever the customer or designer wanted. It was great fun! But then came 2007! The housing crisis wiped out my business. I limped along for 5 years, and then I decided to retire from climbing ladders and scaffolding and do what I have always wanted to do--paint landscapes!
I have always had a strong pull to nature and wildlife, and have had a deep desire to capture a bit of God's beautiful creation with paint and canvas. So, I gave up the acrylics and switched to oils. I am painting outdoors and from photographs. Some of these photos are decades old and I've saved them all these years with the dream of turning them into paintings. I have now been oil painting for 12 years and having the time of my life! Retirement has also brought many opportunities for travel with more paintings waiting to be done! I hope you will follow me on this journey!
