Amy Von Bargen's pots are created by hand building with slabs of stoneware clay. The pieces are carefully constructed and altered into modern shapes. Surfaces are deliberately marked to enhance the pot's form and design.
In particular, the areas where two slabs join are emphasized by marks called “seams.”

The glazes used create a soft, matte surface so that the piece feels satisfying in the hand while also emphasizing the markings.

The pots are meant to be used in the everyday traditions of life. They add beauty and a sense of occasion and ceremony in their use.
